You might think that life for folks who live near the 268-acre Chastain Park is all about jogging, tennis, Little League and driving around in golf carts. You’d be right! Neighbors enjoy a vibrant community, spearheaded by a civic association dedicated to preserving their lifestyle. Chastain Park is Buckhead’s premier park, as well as Atlanta’s 3rd largest city park. The wide variety of competitive and recreational activities include a swimming pool, a musical amphitheater where both pop and classical musicians entertain audiences outdoors, an arts center, tennis, gymnasium, walking trails, playgrounds, softball diamonds, a golf course and even a horse park – any of which appeal to athletic types and Sunday morning strollers alike. A well-organized homeowners’ group, the civic association, facilitates a security patrol and community events like the 4th of July Parade. The Chastain Conservancy was started in 2003 to protect and cultivate the park’s resources and has an active volunteer group.
