ORMEWOOD PARK is a charismatic and eclectic community situated between Grant Park and East Atlanta that has seen substantial growth in the last several years. The historic charm mixed with planned, new development appeals to a diverse group of locals and out-of-towners. Homes in this neighborhood range from 90-year-old prefabricated catalog homes to new construction. Originally developed in 1892, the area didn’t start to boom until after World War I. World War II brought along another period of growth, adding wood sided cottages and older Victorian homes. Additionally, brick ranch style homes entered the neighborhood in the 1960s. In the 2000s, retail and commercial centers were added, along with Glenwood Park, combining new town homes and single-family homes between retail establishments. Home prices are quite affordable in this Atlanta community, but are expected to rise as demand to live in the area increases.
